Japanese woman who kissing Jin without any consent finally surrenders in Korea after hiding many times

 May 8, 2025

About a year ago, a video of the 50-year-old woman who kissing Jin, as well as his flustered reaction during the "Free Hugs" event of 2024 BTS FESTA at Jamsil Indoor Stadium on June 13 caused a huge controversy.

Not only did the woman touch Jin's neck, she also shared a blog post, which went viral on social media. The blog post said that the author was a Japanese fan, and the fan even commented on the situation, saying, "My lips touched his neck. His skin was extremely soft."

Some fans filed a complaint through the National Petition Center, asking the police to investigate the woman for violating the act on special cases concerning the punishment of sexual crimes. Despite the police efforts, there was little progress because she is a foreigner resident.

However, this Thursday, there was a new development. Songpa police station said that they have finally forwarded the case through the prosecution on charges of sexual harassment in public places under the Act of special cases concerning the punishment of sexual crimes.

Person A said to have recently entered Korea and voluntarily surrenders to the police. The transfer took place two months after the police questioned the suspect.

Under the act on special cases concerning the punishment of sexual crime, a person conducted of sexual harassment in a crowded public space may face imprisonment for up to three years or a fine up to 30 million won (approx. $21,494).

Fans are pleased that the offender is finally facing a suitable punishment. On the other hand, the law's intervention is also a signal that it will help prevent further extreme acts by fans.

Fans are especially happy that the complaint has progressed after months of hiatus. The South Korean police had identified the suspect in January this year, seven months after requesting international cooperation from Japan Interpol in the investigation through the National Police Agency.

However, when the police officially filed a case against the woman A in late February and asked her to appear in Korea to cooperate with the investigation, the woman repeatedly refused to appear in court.

The police even decided to stop the investigation in March, citing the time it would take for a foreign woman residing abroad to appear in court for questioning.

According to police investigation regulations, the suspect's whereabouts are unknown, the suspect has been abroad for more than two months, or the suspect is seriously ill, making it impossible to interrogate the suspect or witness for a long time and thus the investigation cannot be completed, a decision can be made to suspect the investigation until the reason is resolved.

The police added that they found evidence of another woman who kissing Jin during investigation, but were unable to identify her.
