Nicole Kim, BTS's interpreter makes a return to Big Hit Music in a high-profile role

For long-time ARMYs, Nicole Kim is no stranger. She is best known as the group's official interpreter at many international events, behind-the-scenes programs, and especially during their meeting with famous Western artists such as Charlie Puth and MAX.

Producer MAX once described her as an amazing person who played an important role in helping BTS and other artists feel comfortable and engaged. In a letter Megan Thee Stallion shared when announcing her collaboration with BTS on the "Butter - Remix," she also revealed that it was Nicole Kim who sent the invitation on behalf of BTS.

Kim rarely appears in public. One of the most notable occasions was when she accompanied V to the Celine event in 2022, where ARMYs could clearly see her elegant appearance and professional demeanor as she assisted the idol in conversations with the company's executives.

Although ARMYs often referred to her as BTS's interpreter, Nicole Kim served as A&R and creative director at HYBE, as well as Head of the Creative Department for BTS, from 2017 to 2022. In December 2022, she left HYBE and began a new role as Vice President at Columbia Records.

Columbia Records, a label under Sony Music Entertainment, currently manages world-renowned artists such as Beyonce, Adele, Pharrell Williams, Harry Styles, Rosalia, The Kid Laroi, and Lil Nas X.

However, there appears to have been a major change in their career recently.

ARMYs noticed Nicole Kim's presence at the opening of the Min Yoongi Treatment Center on September 30. Later, during a speech by Professor Chun, the center's director, Kim Hyun-jung (also known as Nicole Kim) was introduced as Vice President of Big Hit Music--surprising many. This announcement also signaled her return to working with BTS.

After the news spread, some recent photos of Nicole resurfaced, suggesting that signs of her reunion had appeared earlier. For example, in June of this year, Kim posted a farewell message to Columbia Records after spending several years with the label.

She also appeared in a photo posted by V on his personal Instagram in July, where she was seen spending time with Charlie Puth.

In a video from singer Ayden Ju's birthday party at the end of July--an event also attended by Hoseok, Jimin, and Yoongi--Nicole Kim was spottd sitting at the same table.

It seems that as soon as BTS returned after completing their military service, Nicole Kim also came back to accompany the group.

Another notable point observerd by many ARMYs is that Vice President Nicole Kim, together with Big Hit Music's current CEO, Shin Seon-jung--appointed in 2024--are both veteran staff members who have worked with BTS for over 10 years. As BTS enters a new phase after a three-year hiatus, the presence of these experienced staff who have helped shape the group's career offers fans a sense of reassurance.

On social media, ARMys have been flooding timelines with comments welcoming Nicole Kim's return and expressing excitement for BTS's future plans.

ARMYs comments:

πŸ’œ I don't really care too much about titles, but I think it's so cool that Big Hit is now led by two veteran women who have been with BTS as they enter one of the most important stages of their career and break new ground.

πŸ’œ She's back--and they must have good reasons for that! Can't wait to see what she plans for BTS in the future.

πŸ’œ Ever since Nicole left HYBE, I hoped she would come back one day. Now she not only returned but also become Vice President. OMG!

πŸ’œ Nicole's return is such a positive sign. She understands the group, the music, and the fans. No one is more suited to be with BTS at this moment.

πŸ’œ She has always been part of the BTS family. I'm so happy to see her return. After 10 years of working together, she can truly guide BTS in their second chapter.

πŸ’œ Wow, Big Hit Music is now led by two women, both of whom have worked with BTS for over a decade. So exciting!

πŸ’œ From translator to Vice President? It makes sense--her talent has been proven through BTS's many successful projects.

πŸ’œ Ohm now it makes sense why we saw her with BTS in Los Angeles months ago.

πŸ’œ Honestly, anyone who has helped BTS achieve so much truly deserves recognition.
