V appears with a special warrior badge, making fans extremely proud

Instead of choosing to enlist in the regular forces, V applied to the Special Duty Team (SDT) under the Army Capital Defense Command in December 2023.

In February 2024, V was assigned to the 2nd Corps in Chuncheon, Gangwon Province, to serve in the military police special unit under his command.

Military police are responsible for maintaining order in the military, enforcing discipline, and managing traffic. The SDT, where V serves, is responsible for initial response to counter-terrorism incidents and protecting key military personnel (VIPs).




SDT special forces must undergo special training such as climbing down the helicopters, shooting hundreds of bullets in a row, learning close combat techniques used in terrorist situations, wearing black uniforms with equipment weighing up to 20kgs.

These things show a big challenge for a K-pop idol like V during his military service. However, not disappointing the expectations of fans, he not only completed the missions excellently but also became a "special warrior."

Recently, fans got to see V with the honorary "Special Warrior" badge on his chest for the first time. The photo was revealed by the owner of samgyeopsal restaurant in Chuncheon on May 7.




The post was originally to thank him for visiting the restaurant, and the restaurant owner also commented that he was very kind and handsome. Aside from going crazy over V's new update, fans were even more excited to see the badges on his uniform.

The "Special Warrior" patch on his chest features a gold-embroidered star symbol, which symbolises the most elite soldier in Korea. The top raw of the patch includes "Platoon Leader," while the bottom shows "ROKA (Republic of Korea Army) special warfree command."

Special Warfree Command (ROK-SWC) is an elite branch that includes special forces units known for intense training and specialized missions. Soldiers in this command wear a distinctive patch featuring a parachute and dagger, symbolising their unique role.

Meanwhile, special warrior is  designation that any soldiers regardless of their unit, can earn through exceptional performance in physical fitness, combat skills, and overall discipline. It's an individual achievement, not a unit assignment, reflecting peak military performance!

Special warrior requirements:
— 3km run: under 12 mins
— push-ups: more than 72 times under 2 mins
— sit ups: more than 82 times under 2 mins
— pull-ups: 18 times without touching the ground
— marksmanship: more than 90% accuracy
— obstacle course: quick completion of demanding course
— first aid and battlefield medicine: strong knowledge of emergency care
— mental resilience: high scores in psychological and leadership assessment
— flawless disciplinary record and strong leadership skills

Achieving this title is a significant honour, reflecting a soldier's physical and mental performance. It's considered mark of respect among fellow soldiers and a point of pride within the military.




Witnessing V's admirable achievements during his military training, fans couldn't help but be proud of his efforts, and praise his warrior spirit.
