BTS to Announce "Return of the King" at Gwanghwamun on March 21... Collaboration with Traditional "Arirang" Orchestra Confirmed

 


Global sensation BTS will declare spectacular full-group comeback this March at Gwanghwamun Square in Seoul, the heart of Korean history. This performance marks their official return approximately three years and nine months after all members completed their mandatory military service, drawing the attention of ARMYs worldwide to Seoul.


■ Walking the "King's Path" atop Woljeongyo Platform... A Historic Encounter Between Traditional Music and K-pop

According to the music industry and the Seoul Metropolitan Government on the 8th, BTS will hold their fifth studio album release commemorative concert, "BTS 2026 Comeback Show @ Seoul," at 8 p.m. on March 21 at Gwanghwamun Square. The central concept of the event is the fusion of K-Heritage and K-pop. 

One of the most striking aspects of the show is its large-scale lineup. All seven BTS members will perform alongside 50 professional dancers and the 13-member of Arirang Traditional Orchestra. As the title track "Arirang" reinterprets Korean identity in a modern way, the combination of traditional instruments and BTS's powerful performances is expected to deliver a spectacular, unprecedented stage. 


■ 34,000 Seats "Free Concert"... Live Worldwide via Netflix

The stage will be installed on the southern side near Yukjomadang, in front of the Woljeongyo platform at Gwanghwamun. The organizer, HYBE, plans to prepare a total of 34,000 seats (17,000 main seats and 17,000 side seats) and is finalizing plans to make the entire event free of charge for reduce the burden of fans. 

For global fans that unable to attend in person, Netflix will broadcast the concert live in more than 200 countries. This marks the first time a Korean artist's solo comeback showcase will be livestreamed via global OTT platform. Viewership is expected to exceed 50 million concurrent users, comparable to major events such as the World Cup or the Olympics. 


■ A Citywide Celebration... " BTS THE CITY" and Media Facades

Around the time of the comeback, major landmarks across Seoul will be illuminated in purple. On the day of the concert, large-scale media facades showcasing BTS's history will be projected onto the Gwanghwamun walls and around Sungnyemun. Large screens will also be installed at Seoul Plaza so that citizens unable to enter the venue can participate in the festivities. 

The Seoul Metropolitan Government expects up to 200,000 visitors in the Gwanghwamun area that day and is devoting extensive administrative support, including traffic control and safety personnel deployment. 

A business industry insider commented, "BTS return at Gwanghwamun will go beyond a simple comeback and become a national event symbolizing the global status of K-Culture. With Samsung's full technological support and the Seoul government's cooperation, this will serve as an opportunity to establish Seoul firmly as a global 'holy land' of K-pop. 


■ " Arirang World Tour" to Follow

Meanwhile, starting with the Gwanghwamun concert, BTS will embark on their massive "Arirang World Tour," consisting of 79 performances across 34 cities, including Goyang in April, Las Vegas in the United States, and London in the United Kingdom.
