Jungkook Confess an Obsession From His Days Living with BTS That Still Haunts Him Today
From every perspective—both physically and mentally—ARMYs would undoubtedly rank Jungkook among the bravest members of BTS. While other members—even the oldest one—are often afraid of things like ghosts, heights, or extreme sports, the "Golden Maknae" seems to fear almost nothing at all.
Jungkook can jump off swings without hesitation and enthusiastically take on bungee jumping challenges towering cliffs. Just watching him is enough to make one's heart race. Many idols would probably back out, but he remains calm and even excited when facing such activities.
Fans also know that Jungkook has a strong personality and always confronts challenges head-on. He participates in various sports, such as boxing and weight training, and performs difficult dance routines that require both mental and physical strength.
Because of this, it is hard to imagine anything could startle or scare him. However, Jungkook has shown that he is completely human and carries a fear has haunted him from his teenage years into adulthood. Surprisingly, that fear is something fans never expected: he is afraid of microwaves.
During a conversation with Jimmy Fallon on The Tonight Show Starring with Jimmy Fallon, the host was visibly surprised when Jungkook revealed that microwaves were his greatest fear.
Jimmy said, "I was looking through some interviews with you, and this question made me laugh. It asked, 'What is the scariest thing in the world for you?' And your answer was, 'A microwave. I always worry that it will explode.' What are you talking about?"
Jungkook shyly replied, "Well, when I was young, I used to be afraid." He then mimicked the sound of an explosion to explain his fear. He revealed that it began during his trainee days, when the members were living together in a shared dorm.
At the time, BTS often bought food from convenience stores because they didn't have much money. One day, jungkook purchased a cheese stick. The cashier advised him that it would melt perfectly and taste best if heated in the microwave for about 10 seconds..
However, jungkook decided to heat it for about 30 seconds instead, despite the other members' protests.
When he finally took it out, he immediately regettet it, exclaiming, "No, no—oh my god." The cheese had melted out of its container because of the excessive heat. The scene looked quite alarming. If he had left in even one second longer, he believed the microwave might have "exploded."
Since then, Jungkook has never microwaved a cheese stick for more than 10 seconds and has become much more cautious around the rectangular appliance.
After hearing his story, so many fans admitted that using a microwave sometimes gives them a similar feeling. Some laughed that the irony that Jungkook, who cares to go bungee jumping and ghost hunting, becomes "small" in front of a microwave.
Still, this side of him makes the K-pop superstar feel more relatable, and most fans find his fear incredibly adorable.
