V Unexpectedly Exposes RM's New Tattoo and the Special Meaning Behind It

 

BTS held concerts for their ARIRANG World Tour at Allianz Arena in Munich, Germany, on July 11 and 12 (local time). Allianz Arena, the home stadium of Bayern Munich, officially announced the two concert dates on its website. Each night is estimated to have drawn more than 74,000 fans, once again demonstrating the unwavering love and support local fans have for the group.

Throughout the two-hour performances, BTS showcased outstanding live vocals, world-class stage presence, and boundless energy, delivering concerts that were both musically spectacular and emotionally unforgettable. Beyond their performances, the members also won fans over with their charming and humorous attempts to communicate, their friendly interactions, and their determination to make every fan feel included despite the language barrier.

One of the most memorable fan-service moments came when V accidentally "revealed" RM's new tattoo, finally giving fans the answer to a mystery they had been speculating about for weeks.

Specifically, during their performance of "IDOL," as the members walked around the stadium greeting fans, V appeared to be especially excited. He ran across the stage, waved enthusiastically to the crowd, and playfully splashed water on his fellow members. RM became one of his "victims," leaving nearly half of the leader's back soaked.

More importantly, RM's wet shirt clung tightly to his body and became slighty see-through, unintentionally revealing the outline of a tattoo on his shoulder blade. This was the same tattoo that had sparked widespread discussion among ARMY following BTS's concert in Brussels, Belgium, not long ago. At the time, only a small portin of the design could be seen peeking out from beneath RM's sleeve, leading many to believe it was a trident-like symbol. However, the moment in Munich finally revealed the truth: RM's tattoo is actually a tree.

The moment RM's tattoo was revealed quickly spread across social media, going viral and drawing excited reactions from fans around the world. One fan offered the following interpretation of its meaning: "Tree tattoos symbolize growth, strength, resilience and a connection to nature. Because trees endure harsh seasons, shed their leaves, and regrow them, they represent personal transformation, endurance, and the cyclical nature of life—and that's what Namjoon is all about in this new chapter of his life and career. IT'S RM 2.0."

Another ARMY agreed, writing, "Oh my God, that's exactly what I thought too... It's a tree. NAMU. In many of his older posts, he shared photos of leafless trees, berren trees in winter, and only occasionally trees in spring."

For RM, winter trees have never symbolized decline. Instead, they represent quietly gathering strength, enduring harsh conditions, and patiently waiting to bloom again when spring arrives. Fans believe this philosophy is reflected throughout his solo works, particularly "Indigo," and, more recently, "Right Place, Wrong Person."

Meanwhile, other fans offered their own interpretations. An ARMY wrote, "The tattoo is the 'Life Peace Pattern,' designed by South Korea's most influential graphic designer and typographer. It reflects the Buddhist philosophy that all humans, animals, plants, nature, and the cosmos are connected, mutually dependent, and share an equal status of existence."

Another fan pointed out: "The five branches of this tree represent the absolute balance of life as the five elements blend into one: Earth forms the roots for stability, Water becomes the sap that nourishes emotions, Fire provides the energy that drives growth, Air shapes the foliage to symbolize connection, and Spirit guides the tree's crown toward the vast cosmos." 

On the other hand, RM is well-known for his love of nature, especially his passion for growing and caring for bonsai trees. His slow- paced lifestyle—taking walks, riding his bicycle, visiting museums, and immersing himself in nature—even inspired the widely recognized term "Namjooning," which fans use to describe a peaceful way of living and appreciating life's simple pleasures. RM himself also freuenty uses the tree emoji in his social media posts. 

For that reason, when V accidentally revealed RM's new tattoo during the spontaneous moment on stage in Munich, fans alomst immediately agreed that no symbol could better represent Kim Namjoon than a tree. More than just body art, the tattoo feels like a personal statement—a reflection of who he is, the values he lives by, and the journey he has taken and will continue to take.
