Cities across South America are busy preparing to welcome BTS as the group's world tour ARIRANG approaches.
BTS will kick off the South American leg of ARIRANG in Bogotร , Colombia, on October 2 (local time). The South American leg will consist of a total of 14 shows across five cities. After performing in Bogotร , the group will travel to Lima, Peru; Santiago, Chile; Buenos Aires, Argentina; and Sรฃo Paulo, Brazil, in succession.
This will mark the first time BTS has held full-group concerts in Colombia, Peru, and Argentina.
"Visit Bogotร ," the official tourism website operated by the Bogotร Tourism Board, introduced BTS as a "group representing global pop in the 21st century," adding significance to the world's major music destinations.
Ahead of BTS' visit, the city of Lima held a K-pop cultural event. The event, held on September 12 and 13 at the Magic Water Circuit, one of Lima's major nighttime tourist attractions, featured dance covers, video screenings, and various cultural programs.
La Plata, Argentina, is also preparing to welcome a large influx of visitors, with the city government, provincial government, and concert production company working together.
According to local media outlet El Dรญa, based on estimates recently released by the city of La Plata, more than 150,000 people are expected to visit the city. A large influx of international visitors from countries including the United States, Colombia, Chile, and Uruguay is also anticipated.
Mayor Julio Alak said, "We are preparing to welcome visitors in the best possible way so they can enjoy a world-class event."
In July, the La Plata City Council unanimously passed a proposal to designate BTS as "Honorary Distinguished Guests"during its regular session. Under La Plata's municipal ordinance, the designation represents the highest level of official recognition granted to distinguished guests visiting the city or internationally renowned figures from the cultural and artistic fields.
BIGHIT MUSIC, BTS' agency, explained, "The La Plata City Council cited the seven members' cultural influence, their contributions to advancing youth rights, and their participation in international cultural activities as the reasons for their selection."
Chile has also highlighted BTS' Santiago concert through Chile Travel, its official tourism promotion website, which listed the event among the major activities in the "Festivals and Events—Culture & Heritage" category. Chile Travel stated, "The global K-pop phenomenon is landing in Chile. With BTS' return, Santiago will transforms into a global hub for K-pop."
BTS has been carrying out its world tour since April. The group drew 1.92 million concertgoers across 31 shows in 12 locations during the North American leg alone.
