◆ BTS at the Center of Seoul — The Symbolism of the Gwanghwamun Stage
After conquering stages around the world, BTS is now returning to stand at Gwanghwamun. On the 21st, BTS THE COMEBACK LIVE : ARIRANG will be held at Gwanghwamun in Seoul. By performing at one of Seoul's most symbolic locations, the group is set to create yet another unforgettable moment.
Gwanghwamun is not merely a performance venue—it is widely regarded as the center of Korea's history, culture, and politics. It is also one of Seoul's most recognizable landmarks, frequently visited by both domestic and international tourists, and a symbolic location where national events and major cultural festivals take place.
A BTS performance in such a space is expected to go beyond a simple concert, becoming a powerful moment that showcases the global stature of K-pop in the very heart of Seoul.
Interest surrounding the concert is hotter than ever. A total of 22,000 seats—including additional tickets that were released—have completely sold out. In response, BTS's agency, BigHit Music and its parents company HYBE have strengthened measures to prevent ticket scalping and unauthorized entry. The companies plan to monitor illegal ticket resale posts online in real time and take reporting actions to block scalping in advance.
On the day of the performance, approximately 260,000 people are expected to gather around Gwanghwamun, including 22,000 ticket holders from both Korea and abroad. The government has begun full-scale management preparations. Nearby cultural sites—such as Gyeongbokgung Palace, the National Palace Museum of Korea, and the National Museum of Korean Contemporary History—will be closed on the day of the event.
The concert will also be broadcast live simultaneously to around 190 countries through the global OTT platform Netflix, drawing the attention of fans worldwide toward Seoul. The broadcast is particularly symbolic as it marks the first time Netflix has streamed a solo artist concert live.
A music industry insider commented, "The meeting between Netflix—one of the driving forces behind the global expansion of K-content—and the greatest K-pop idol group produced by Korea is monumental. The symbolic meaning of Gwanghwamun, located at the heart of Seoul, makes it even more significant," adding that it represents the realization of the idea that "the most Korean things can also be the most global."
With this significant in mind, BTS—who have already dominated global stages—are now ready to write a new chapter of history in the center of Seoul. Their comeback performance is expected to become another milestion in their career, drawing worldwide attention to what could become a historic moment.
