BTS Conquer Tokyo Dome With "Arirang"... Featured on the Front Page of Major Japanese Newspapers

BTS (방탄소년단) simultaneously graced the front pages of major Japanese sports newspapers.

From the 17th to the 18th, five of Japan's leading sports dailies—including Nikkan Sports and Sports Nippon—gave prominent coverage to "BTS World Tour 'Arirang' in Tokyo" concert held at Tokyo Dome. In particular at convenience stores near the venue, newspapers featuring the coverage quickly sold out from early morning as fans flocked to purchase them.

Local media focused on BTS's full-group comeback after seven years and the enthusiastic response from the audience that filled Tokyo Dome. Reports highlighted phrases such as "Return as a complete group after seven years," "Tokyo Dome in a frenzy," and "Reunion with ARMY (the fandom name)," analyzing the symbolic significance of the concert.

The Tokyo Dome concerts marked BTS's first full-group performances in about seven years since 2019, with both shows completely sold out. This once again demonstrated the group's strong drawing power in Japan, even after their hiatus.

Their success also extended the album sales. According to the Recording Industry Association of Japan (RIAJ), BTS's fifth full-length album, "Arirang," surpassed 750,000 copies in cumulative shipments as of March, earning a "Triple Platinum" certification. This milestone was achieved in just 11 days after release, making it the first Triple Platinum certification of the year in Japan among both domestic and international artists.

Streaming performance on the Oricon charts was also strong. On the weekly streaming surge ranking dated April 20, the new songs "2.0. and "Hooligan" ranked No. 1 and No. 3, respectively. Meanwhile, previous hits such as "Butter" and "Dynamite" re-entered the Top 10, showing a simuoltaneous boost driven by the new album release.

Their long-term success continues on global charts as well. On Spotify's weekly charts, BTS held the No. 1 spot in both the album and song categories for four consecutive weeks, and they also secured a high position on the UK Official Album Chart. The title track "SWIM" has maintained its ranking on the singles chart for four weeks, sustaining the group's global influence.
