HYBE's strict policy towards BTS seems to have visited after their discharge

When they become ideas under an entertainment company, they also give control to the company. On the positive side, it helps create idols with good looks, good behaviours, and good morals.

But on the other hand, it is not difficult to see that idols are limited to certain framework or to have follow many many strict general rules if they do not want to be eliminated or have their activities restricted.

JYP is famous in the industry for its six rules for their trainees: no smoking, drinking, driving, plastic surgery, clubbing, and dating. Meanwhile, YG trainees and know to not be allowed to date. Even YG idols have to follow this for three years after their debut.

Bighit Music and superstar BTS are no exception! Jin had previously revealed some of those strict policies, but it seems that there has been a big chance, especially after the BTS members were discharged from the military.

First, one of those rules was "no drinking from trainee to debut." Even after debut, their drinking was restricted to avoid tarnishing their public image.

Jin mentioned that he started drinking when he was allowed to drink at the age of 18, but when he turned 19 and started training at BigHit Entertainment, he was not allowed to drink during his trainee period. He explained, "I was unable to do those because of the company stopped me from drinking when I came here as a trainee at 19 years old."

In some previous live broadcasts, around 2020, when Jungkook and Suga drank, there would usually be staff to monitoring their conversations with fans. But in recent years, BTS members have been free to open live broadcasts with alcohol, and Jungkook has even been drinking with fans for hours on Weverse live.

The second rule Jin revealed is a strict policy related to recording. He shared that BTS usually only participates in entertainment content released by HYBE for ARMY or in-house filming sessions.

Jin asserted that the actual frequency of BTS filming third parties is almost never. "Almost 99% of time." The company is very strict in deciding what BTS members will film, and rarely let's BTS appear in a variety shows with a team other than HYBE staff or their partners.

When BTS first debuted, fans could see the group participating in various shows and music shows in their first two years like any other rookie group. But that become much rarer in the next 10 years. It wasn't until the last few years that the number of non-HYBE shows that the members appeared on increased.

Some ARMYs also understand part of reason why HYBE limited BTS's participation in these shows. They have a history of treating BTS poorly when they weren't famous yet. You can easily find those terrible moments on YouTube.

Another reasons that many people can see is that as BTS became globally famous, they had less time for TV shows. Being a HYBE-produced entertainment shows would be easier to fit into their schedules, while this is difficult for third-party shows.

While BTS members can appear on third-party shows, there have been times when they revealed that HYBE staff had to check the scripts of these shows before they started filming. That shows how carefully controlled the working process with BTS is to avoid mistakes and how sensitive it is!

In general, sometimes the regulations can be strict, limiting freedom, but in the contrary, they also help protect and guide the artists, especially the rookies. For experienced idols like BTS, they can completely overcome these regulations when they feel the time is right.
