'First song after discharge'—J-Hope releases "Sweet Dreams," a reflection on popular music

"I can't define what pop music is but this new song started from the question of what kind of popular music I want to create. Music is a way for artists to tell their stories and express themselves, but ultimately, I believe that the listener's perspective is the most important."

These are the words of BTS' J-Hope.

BigHit Music announced on the 7th that J-Hope will be releasing his digital single "Sweet Dreams" at 2 PM.

According to his agency, the song is a heart left serenade expressing the desire to love and be loved.

J-Hope is sings about the feeling of falling in love, comparing them to a sweet dream. He also participated in shoping the overall direction of the song's message, enhancing its completeness.

Additionally, singer Miguel, the winner of Best R&B song at 55th Grammy Awards, has participated as featured artist.

The following is the Q&A with J-Hope:


Q. How do you feel about making your comeback after being discharged from the military?

🐿️ "I'm extremely excited at the thought of sharing new music after such a long time. I've been eager to let everyone hear my music as soon as possible and enjoy it together with my fans. I'm feeling both nervous and excited—it's a mix of anticipation and concern. Since this song is the result of a lot of thought and effort, I really hope people will like it."


Q. What was your first impression when you heard the song?

🐿️ "As soon as I heard it, I was certain—"This is a song that J-Hope has to do." When I listen to a great song, different images come to mind, and with this one, so many vivid scenes appeared clearly. I hope my confidence and belief in this song aren't misplaced. (Laughs) Since it's a song I truly love and enjoy, I hope that sincerity reaches everyone who listens to it."


Q. Behind the scenes of working with Miguel

🐿️ "I was the one who reached it first to propose the collaboration, and despite not having a personal connection, he responded positively, which was incredibly moving for me. (Laughs) He accepted the offer in such a cool way. I've been listening to Miguel's music since I was young, so being able to work with him was truly exciting. I felt that his deep, soulful voice, and authenticity would complement the song perfectly, and I'm so happy with the amazing result we achieved."
