On June 21, BTS officially completed their military service duties as member Suga (real name Min Yoongi) was discharged, marking the return of all seven members with this expectations are growing that BTS will resume full-group activities as early as the second half of this year, and international media outlets are showing great interest in their comeback.

Suga, who began his alternative service as a social service worker in 2023, was the last to complete his service. This is end BTS' military hiatus which began with Jin who enlisted in December 2022—a gap that lasted about two years and a half years. Jin and J-Hope were discharged in June and October last year, respectively, while RM and V completed their service in the 10th of this month, followed by Jimin and Jungkook on the 11th.

The exact timeline for BTS' full-group return remains unclear. Industry speculate that instead of releasing an album, BTS may prioritise a tour to reconnect directly with fans. This would follow in the footsteps of J-Hope, who also launched a world tour as his first activity after being discharged.

However, the group's return might be delayed due to Suga's past DUI incident. In August of last year, Suga was caught riding an electric scooter under the influence of alcohol and received a summary order with a fine of 15 million KRW. In the day of his discharge, Suga took the fan platform Weverse to apologize, saying, "I'm sorry for causing disappointment and concern with last year's incident. It hurt me to think I upset the fans, and I'm also sorry to the members who must have been burdened by it."

International media predict that BTS's full-group comeback will have a global impact on the music industry. The BBC stated, "The K-pop industry was undergone significant changes over the past two years. Many are eagerly into K-pop and point the way forward." The Associated Press also commented, "June 21 is a monumental moment for BTS fans," and added, "Fans are hoping for a group reunion later this year."
