[Trans] Vulnerable Seniors' Housing Improvement: 'Busan-Type Habitat'… Supported by Suyeong-ro Church and Others
Busan City announced on the 30th that it held an occupancy ceremony (photo) on the 26th in Uam-dong, Nam-gu, for a household participating in the "Busan-Type Habitat Challenge Project," which improves the living environment for vulnerable seniors in cooperation with the local community.
The Busan-Type Habitat Challenge Project is a home renovation initiative that remodels old houses for senior households into comfortable and safe spaces, tailored to the needs of the elderly, through a relay of private (corporate and individual) donations, KB Kookmin Bank initiated the donation relay, followed by Dongil Co., Ltd., BTS's Jimin, Deutsche Motors Co., Ltd., and Suyeong-ro church.
The current target house, located in Uam-dong, Nam-gu, was transformed with financial contributions from Suyeong-ro Church, allowing he elderly resident to spend their later years more comfortably than before. Based on expert diagnosis, improvements were made to ensure the senior could live comfortably in the house, including: flattening the main entrance and relocating the kitchen and bathroom indoors, replacing indoor finishing materials, lightning and ventilation facilities. Notably, items to prevent falls, such as LED wireless censor lights and anti-slip mails, were also installed to prevent the senior from falling.
In addition, student from Koshin University's Department of Occupational Therapy will volunteer their talents to run an occupational program, aiming to help the occupying senior adapt easily to their new space. Jeong Tae-gi, Director General of Busan City Social Welfare Bureau, stated, "We will discover meaningful local social contribution companies, organizations, and individuals to ensure the donation relay the Busan-Type Habitat Challenge Project continues."
