BTS talked about how the strict rules at home set by their parents have carried over even to this day

"Strict parents raise disciplined children" is a saying that cannot be taken lightly, especially in Asian families. Even the members of BTS are no exception! Although BTS are now global superstars, they still spent their childhoods under strict parental guidance. In many interviews, they have shared the rigid rules imposed by their families—from academics to behaviour.

Although strict, there is no denying that 'what is learners in the crodle is carried to the grave.' It was the parental education that played a crucial role in helping BTS grow up ethically, achieve career success, and be beloved by millions worldwide.

Now, let's explore what rules that parents of BTS applied to raise these golden boys of K-pop below.

Jin
He was born into a family with two brothers, and his parents were both business people in Gwancheon. While his father was busy with his business, and his mother took care of and raised the two brothers with very strict rules. Even now, Jin still maintains these habits.

For example, Jin always sits with a straight back whenever there is a chair or not in all situations. This habit was required by his mother every time they watched TV since he was little.

Jin's mother also restricted his snacking because she believed they contained additives and were nutritious. Instead, she cooked delicious meals for him so he could have a healthy body and maximize physical development.

In addition, the BTS members revealed that Jin's family is very good at speaking. Taught about politeness and social communication from a young age, it's easy to see why Jin is behavior.

Yoongi
The case of Yoongi and his parents is quite special. Initially, his parents did not support him pursuing a career as a producer and idol. But after witnessing his passion, they allowed him to pursue what he wanted in the condition that he complete basic education to ensure a stable future.

Ultimately, Yoongi not only excelled in high school, but also debuted successfully with BTS. Later, he also completed both his bachelor's and master's degrees while developing his career as a famous idol and producer, winning many awards.

Another interesting point is that Yoongi inherited many wonderful traits from his mother such as artistic talent and a witty sense of humor.

Hoseok
Similar to Yoongi, Hoseok grew up in a very strict family because his father was a literature teacher. Therefore, his father opposed his decision to become a dancer and advised him to focus on academics.

On the other hand, Hoseok's mother was supportive from the start. She fully supported her son's path and even took on various jobs to finance his dance training.

To prove he could succeed in both academics and choreography, Hoseok studied hard at school and practiced late in the dance academy. Eventually, Hobi's efforts were rewarded: his father became very proud of his son, and his mother remained his biggest fan.

Namjoon
Meanwhile, group leader Namjoon stands out for his artistic talent, fluent English, intelligence, and courage—all thanks to the progressive upbringing and education his mother applied from a young age.

Namjoon once said that his mother encouraged him to learn English by watching the sitcom "F.R.I.E.N.D.S." In addition, Namjoon's mother bought him his first microphone, worth $45 after he kept promise to get good grades at school.

He also inherited a love of arts and museums from his mother. He visited art museums with her since primary school and has maintained that habit to this day.

Jimin
For Jimin's family, his parents set a rule that family members must to emotional support for each other. Therefore, whenever he left exhausted in the past, Jimin would overcome it by sharing with his family members. In an interview with Weverse in 2021, Jimin shared how he sought advice from his mother to overcome difficult times.

Not only that, as the eldest son in a family that values tradition, Jimin had to learn rules and rituals from a young age. These lessons did not stop at verbal teachings—all show the foundation of a traditionally respectful upbringing.

Taehyung
Like Jimin's family, Taehyung's family also values the bond between members. Taehyung once admitted that his parents are his strongest emotional support, even though they could not take care of him due to work.

Taehyung's father was the one who took him to the agency to pursue his dream. During his first year training in Seoul, his mother bought him an expensive jacket and even though the family was not wealthy, so that friends wouldn't look down on him.

That parental over left a deep imprint in his mind, shaping the kind of compassionate heart of the idol. Therefore, he is now famous for his kindness, friendly personality, and is beloved by many seniors and colleagues into the entertainment industry.

Jungkook
Finally, regarding to the golden maknae Jungkook, both his father and mother were not overly strict. They allowed him freedom to decide what he wanted to do and only gave advice when necessary. He felt lucky not to have too much pressure or expectation from his parents and to have the opportunity to freely develop himself.

However, that does not mean his parents allowed him to cross certain limits. In a live broadcast Jungkook shared a childhood story about his spelling test cheating scandal. "When I was a little, I cheated on a spelling test and I got into a lot of trouble. I got really good spanking. My mom... I'm not sure what she told me, to be honest, but I think it was something like: 'I don't care if you get 100 or 0 on your tests. I don't really care about that. But the issue here is that you cheated.' I made a big mistake," he confessed

Thanks to being raised that way, little Jungkook realised the importance of honesty. Since then, Jungkook never made that mistake again, and our golden maknae is become the most honest artist we have ever know.

Although they come from different backgrounds and have their own parenting styles, all of BTS' parents have one thing in common: they always cared and guided their children to become good people! Thanks to that vision, BTS not only become talented artists with global fame but also admired for their noble character, kindness, and sense of responsibility.

These values cannot form overnight—they are the result of a strict yet loving upbringing from family. That helped them to build strong trust from fans and become ideals for youth across the world.
