J-Hope reveals why BTS members rarely exchange birthday gifts--and the reason has ARMYs relating
It cannot be denied that birthdays are particularly meaningful day for anyone, and those around often try to create surprising events, unique gifts, or grand parties to celebrate the occasion. Especially for celebrities, birthdays are among the days that receive the most attention.
The fandom often spends several months, sometimes even up to half a year, preparing celebration events, support projects for idols' birthdays. On the exact day, social media is filled with warm congratulatory messages as fans express their affection.
Similarly, close friends or group members often post shared photos on congratulatory messages on social media. Just like that, fans enjoy it and consider it an indsipensable annual practice that proves their friendship between idols.

But gradually, this thought turned into a harsh prejudice. If idols do not publicly offer congratulations, fans assume that their friendship has soured, leading to many baseless rumors and awkward situations. Even the members of BTS have found themselves in such uncomfortable circumtances.
This prejudice truly needs to be addressed within the fan community, and J-Hope once again reminded fans of the true meaning of birthdays.
Specifically, during a live broadcast on October 1, J-Hope took the opportunity to update fans on BTS's progress with their new album while he was in the car. Afterwards, he received a question from an ARMY about a birthday gift for Jimin, who will be celebrating his 30th birthday on the 13th.
J-Hope frankly shared his thoughts: "A spoiler for Jimin's birthday gift? Well, Jin hyung gave Namjoonie a gift (a FRED diamond ring). I used to give a lot of presents back in the day, but honestly, our hearts and thoughts are more important for birthdays than material things.

The BTS rapper expressed a very mature perspective on the true meaning of birthdays. Like many others, he once believed that birthdays had to include gifts to feel complete. But as the time passed, he gradually realized that what truly lasts and holds the greatest value is affection.
J-Hope's words not only reflect the closeness and sincerity in the relationship among BTS members, but also convey a gentle message to fans: sometimes, a heartfelt wish or a warm hug can be more precious than any gift.
This is also similar to what Jin once said about the BTS members: "We decided not to do birthday presents anymore. It became too difficult to prepare and deliver gifts fo all seven of us every year."
In addition, Jin had previously reminded fans in a Weverse post that even if BTS members do not post about each other's birtdays on social media, their real-life friendship is not affected and is, in fact, "very good" and "very close." In reality, the members often spend time together without making it public online. Fans usually find out only when a restaurant shares it, a passerby happens to see them, or it is revealed later through a post made days afterwards.

In conclusion, ARMYs resonated with J-Hope and the other BTS members' mature perspective, admitting that they and their own friends often behave in a similar way.
ARMYs comments
1. At the end of the day, birthdays are about love, not the presents. And I wholeheartedly agree.
2. Presence matters more than presents. Birthdays are about love, not material things--and Hobi expressed it perfectly
3. That's so family-coded--they clearly love each other so much.
4. And that's how we know our hearts belong to the right ones: our family OT7
5. Awww, he's just so sweet. And in more seconds, Hobi managed to win millions of hearts for the 777th time.
6. Aww... Why is this so soft and romantic? I want his heart too!
7. Hobi is so right. After being together for so long, all that really matters is their hearts and love. My boys, I love you so much
8. After a while, what could millionaire friends even buy each other that they don't already own?
9. J-Hope is so right. The most precious thing is our feelings. Gifts may fade with time, but memories and sincerity last forever.
10. You don't need birthday gifts to prove friendship. The fact that the BTS members are always there for each other, supporting one another in both work and life, is already the greatest gift.
11. I agree with Hobi. With age, I've come to realize that a heartfelt wish or genuine care carries far more meaning than any material present
12. J-Hope reminded us of a truth often forgotten: friendship and love can never be measured by gifts. The bond BTS has nurtured for more than 10 years is living proof of that.
13. ARMYs can also take this lesson from Hobi: we often expect too much from outward gestures, when in truth, the greatest birthday gifts are lasting support and sincere sharing
