WINNER's Kang Seungyoon Sparks Buzz After Sharing That Jin Took Great Care of Him in the Military, Even Though They Had Never Met Before

Kang Seungyoon is widely known as the main vocalist of one of the famous third-generation boy groups, WINNER. After being absent from major stages for about four years, the male idol marked his return with a solo album titled PAGE 2, released in early November. He also preparing for his solo concert tour, PASSAGE #2 CONCERT TOUR, which is scheduled to take place in five cities in Korea and two cities in Japan, beginning on December 24-25.

Meanwhile, for ARMYs, Kang Seungyoon became especially familiar after Jin shared photos of the two together in the military. Notably, he even included an adorable message:

"Seungyoon-ssi, congratulations on your completion. I had great six weeks with you. You did a great job as a trainee. You will do well in your military service in your unit too. I wanted ARMYs and INNER CHILD also like it."

Their unexpected friendship went viral throughout the fandom community for ak kb o long time afterward. Therefore, when Park Myung-soo met Kang again on the KBS CoolFM radio show aired on the 19th, he asked on behalf of fans, addressing their curiosity about how the friendship between these celebrities began. The MC brought it up by saying, "I heard that BTS's Jin was in the military with you?" 

Kang Seungyoon recalled, "I met him as a drill instructor at the training center I entered. Of course, I was so envious. He is such a world star, so even though he already seems 'huge,' within the military organization he looked like a god-like existence. That god-like Jin-nim even took care of me by giving me choco pies. I cannot expressed how grateful I was."

He also revealed, "Honestly, we had no personal connection at all, but when he heard the news that I was entering the training center, he contacted me first. He applied to be a drill instructor and told me to become drill instructor in the same unit to get her. But my military life got twisted. I was too unlucky. I could not become a drill instructor, I could not get into the military band, and I ended up working hard as an infantry."

It is known that Jin enlisted on December 13, 2022, while Kang Seungyoon enlisted on June 20, 2023. At the time, Kang was undergoing training at the Yeoncheon Recruit Training Center as a new trainee, and Jin was the training instructor of the company. 

The idols' revelation impressed fans, who remarked that this friendliness and kindness are exactly Jin's signature qualities. Small actions such as approaching him first, giving him choco pies, offering to take photos together, or suggesting they become instructors in the same unit were not just gesture of care — they also helped Seungyoon feel less lonely and anxious in an environment that completely different from his previous idol life. 

What makes it even more admirable is that Jin could easily have chosen not to do any of that and treated Kang just like any other new recruit. But instead, he chose to be attentive and supportive within his ability, because he genuinely understands at least be meaningful in some way. 

This aspect of Jin's personality truly makes anyone who meets him grow fond him. From two idols who had no prior connection, Kang Seungyoon and Jin became closer thanks to the kindness of Worldwide Handsome. 

After completing their service, the two idols have continued to stay in touch and maintain their adorable friendship. A non-fan even reported on Naver Blog that they spotted the two idols eating barbecue together at a restaurant in Seoul this January. 

In a competitive world like K-pop, people often doubt the friendship between Jin and Seungyoon once again proves that genuine kindness still exists behind the glamorous from empathy, not just mutual benefit or media strategy. 

Through Kang Seungyoon's story, fans also feel even more proud of Jin's personality — something that has been praised throughout his more than ten years in the industry.
