BTS's Free Gwanghwamun Concert Draws Over 100,000 in Queue Immediately After Ticket Sales Open

More than 100,000 people rushed to reserve tickets for the free concert at Gwanghwamun Square, held to celebrate the comeback of global superstar group BTS and their fifth full-length album, ARIRANG. 

According to industry sources on the 23rd, as soon as ticket sales opened at 8:00 p.m. in NOL Ticket, a massive surge of users flooded site, resulting in a waiting queue exceeding 100,000 people. 

Even after successfully accessing the site, many users experienced "white screen" errors or were reset during the payment process with messages stating that the seats had already been purchased. As of 8:35 p.m., just 35 minutes after sales began, 99% of all tickets had been sold out. 

Police issued a strong warning against proxy purchasing and high-priced resale scams related to the ticketing process. 

During a briefing that morning, the Seoul Metropolitan Police Chief stated, "So far, we have requested the deletion and blocking of 34 proxy-purchase posts. Handing over personal information during proxy purchases carries a high risk of criminal misuse. Furthermore, according to the organizer, entry is not possible with resold tickets, so citizens are urged to exercise special caution."




The event, titled BTS Comeback Live: ARIRANG (BTS THE COMEBACK LIVE | ARIRANG), will be held on March 21 at 8:00 p.m. (KST) in the Gwanghwamun Square area in Seoul. It is expected to be the first live showcase of tracks from BTS's fifth studio album, reflecting the group's roots and identity. 

Up to 260,000 people are expected that gather in the area on the day of the concert. To ensure safety, police plan to implement a "stadium-style" crowd management system and are considering temporarily bypassing nearby subway stations as part of comprehensive safety measures. 

The stage route has also drawn attention. The members are expected to begin at the Woljeong Bridge area, pass through Heungnyemun and Geunjeongmun, move past the Statue of King Sejong the Great, and proceed to the center of the square for a dynamic performance. Audience seating will include both standing and reserved sections, and large LED screens will be installed for viewers in restricted-visibility areas. 

The concert will be exclusively livestreamed to more than 190 countries worldwide via Netflix, bringjbf the excitement of the offline event to a global audience.
