Goyang City in Gyeonggi Province is preparing to welcome visitors by transforming the entire city into purple—the symbolic color if global icon BTS—ahead of the opening concert of their world tour "ARIRANG." Through this event, the city aims to strengthen its brand as a "stay-oriented concert destination" and to spread the economic impact of the large influx of visitors throughout the region.

● 17.2% increase in floating population during SEVENTEEN tour

The city expects approximately 120,000 domestic and international attendees to visit the concerts, which will be held over three days—on the 9th, 11th, and 12th—at Goyang Stadium.

The Goyang Urban Management Corporation has hung large purple banners on the exterior walls of the stadium, reading, "WELCOME TO THE BTS WORLD TOUR," creating a festive atmosphere. Bus stop shelters display member photo advertisements produced by fan clubs. Starting on the 4th, a "BTS World Tour Commemorative Music Fountain Show" will also be held every evening at 7:30 p.m. at Ilsan Lake Park. A city official said, "As this marks the first world tour featuring all members after completing their military service—and with the added significance of being held in leader RM's hometown—the excitement is higher than ever."

To ensure that concert attendance leads to extended stays and increased local spending, the city has launched the "Goyang Con-Trip" program. The itinerary includes visiting a large mural at the Goyang Tourism Information Center, strolling through Ilsan Lake Park, exploring the culinary spots of Bamridan-gil, and shopping in the Latest and Western Dom district's. A city official added, "During last year's Seventeen world tour, card sales in the Daehwa Station commercial area increased by 58.1% compared to a typical weekend, and the floating population rose by 17.2%. We aim to ensure that the economic benefits of this concert extend to local neighbourhoods as well."

In addition, the city has designated June 6-15 as "Local Economy Revitalization Big Sale Week," with around 130 small businesses participating in discount promotions and giveaway events. Kin Seong-hyun, a café owner, said, "When large concerts are held, sales often increase by more than 30%. Since this time it's a BTS concert, we're even preparing to hire additional staff."

● Goal: A "flawless concert" with zero safety incidents

Drawing on its experience hosting 26 performances by global artists such as G-Dragon, Coldplay, and Blackpink, Goyang City plans to deliver a "flawless concert" without a single safety incident.

The city has established a comprehensive administrative support plan involving district offices, affiliated agencies, police and fire departments, railway authorities, and the event organizers. Approximately 920 safety personnel will be deployed to manage crowds and maintain order. To reduce congestion, the merchandise sales area will be set up separately at KINTEX Exhibition Center 2 instead of the main stadium.

At Daehwa Station on subway line 3—where heavy congestion is expected after the concerts—safety personnel will be concentrated, and passengers will be guided to nearby Juyeop Station to disperse crowds. Shuttle busses will run evey 7-10 minutes between KINTEX Station on the GTX-A line and the stadium to improve transportation convenience.

During the event period, a 24-hour comprehensive situation room will be operated to handle public inquiries, and pre-inspections if accommodation facilities for hygiene and safety will also be conducted. Goyang Mayor Lee Dong-hwan stated, "Through meticulous safety measures and a variety of welcoming programs, we will provide visitors with the best possible concert experience."
