Sequential exhibitions to be held in Las Vegas, Busan, and New York
BTS's ARIRANG reinterpreted through media art
Official exhibition participatin in THE CITY project
This June, Busan will be painted entirely in purple. In celebration of BTS's concert taking place over two days on June 12-14, various BTS-related projects across the city will welcome fans.
An exhibition where visitors can experience BTS's music through media art is set to open. Arte Museum will host Arte Museum X BTS : The City Arirang, an exhibition themed around BTS's fifth full-length album, ARIRANG.
The project is a large-scale collaborative exhibition that reimagines BTS's musical world through digital media technology. Beginning in Las Vegas, the exhibition will continue to Busan and New York, connecting with fans around the world. In Korea, it will run at Arte Museum Busan from June 5 to July 3.
This exhibition was organized as part of HYBE's THE CITY project. THE CITY is an urban entertainment project that connects concerts, exhibitions, and interactive experiences throughout cities hosting BTTS world tour events.
The exhibition is inspired by BTS's fifth full-length album ARIRANG, released three years and nine months after all seven members completed their military service. Since its release in March, the album has topped Billboard's main album chart, the Billboard 200. Its title track, "SWIM," also reached No. 1 on the Hot 100 chart.
The exhibition transforms the atmosphere and message of the album's track into immersive media art experiences, combining music with visual elements.
The exhibition's central space, Garden, will operat as the special Arirang Garden during the event period. A total of five media art pieces will be showcased there.
The lineup includes "No. 29," the sillhouettes of the seven members; "Body to Body," which expresses a distinctly Korean sense of rhythm through the symbolic red color of Arirang, "SWIM," which represents the title track through seven killer whales; "2.0," which expands the entire exhibition hall into a music video set; and "Into the Sun," featuring scenery from Las Vegas, New York, and Busan.
That's not all. Arte Museum's signature work, "WAVE," will also be presented as the collaborative piece "Arirang Wave." In the interactive Live Sketchbook space, a red whale symbolizing ARIRANG and BTS will appear as well. Fans can draw their own artwork and project it onto the media wall. The existing Arte Café will also operate as the themed Arirang Café.
Arte Museum will additionally participate as an official mission location in HYBE's stamp rally event. The stamp rally will run during the exhibition in Las Vegas, Busan, and New York. Visitors can scan on-site QR codes after visiting Arte Museum to collect stamps and receive various rewards.
A representative from d'strict stated, "Arte Museum is a media art space that combines digital technology with artistic emotion and cultural storytelling. With BTS's music added to that foundation, the two brands have come together to create a single work of art."
