RM recently revealed story of repaying a senior with a huge sum of money leaves everyone shocked

BTS continues to make a powerful global impact, not only through their incredible music and record-breaking achievements but also because of their character, which has been highly praised by the public throughout more than a decade of activities. Countless fans have grown closer to the group, completely won over by the personalities to the seven idols.

It is not only fans who admire them; industry insiders, colleagues, experts, and the media have repeatedly praised the BTS members for maintaining their exceptional character over the past 13 years, even after becoming world-renowned superstars. Over the time, numerous behind-the-scenes stories have emerged, further proving the true nature of BTS offstage.

Recently, an anecdote involving leader RM once again reinforced this truth.

Appearing in a video titled "The Best Budget Proposal in History with Empty Hands," which was recently uploaded to the YouTube channel Tingtingtingting, rapper DinDin caught everyone's attention by casually sharing a story about RM's wedding gift. Specifically, while the guests were discussing wedding gifts and social relationship, the topic of Sleepy's wedding came up. At that moment, DinDin revealed, "Namjoon sent 10 million won (around US$6.547) as a wedding gift for Sleepy hyung's wedding."

According to DinDin, Sleepy shared a special bond with RM, having helped him secured an audition opportunity when the idol was still a trainee. Later, after hearing the news of Sleepy's marriage, RM reportedly took the initiative to send him a direct message (DM), asking for his bank account number. He then transferred a whopping 10 million won as a wedding gift.

As DinDin shared this anecdote and explained the long-standing bond between RM and Sleepy, the guests in the studio could not hide their amazement.

It is known that even before his debut, RM had established connection and continued his musical activities with the hip-hop crew to which Sleepy belonged. Sleepy himself has also revealed on various television programs that he closely witnessed RM's growth and development from the very beginning.

On the Art Basel podcast, RM once recalled that when he was 16 years old, he participated in an audition for an underground hip-hop label. However, due to extreme nervousness, he forgot his lyrics on stage and felt like a complete failure. Remembering that time, he stated, "In the studio, I think I was talented, I was great. But the stage was a whole different thing, so, yeah, that happened, and I entered high school and I just cut my hair. I thought, 'Okay, this is my way. I should study. I should be a good student.'"

But fate has other plans. Sleepy then introduced him to Hitman Bang (Bang Si-hyuk). RM shared, "But destiny is really funny because in that performance I sucked at, there was a famous rapper in Korea (Sleepy), and he saw my performance. He actually laughed at me because I forgot my lyrics, but I think he saw my potential at that time. He called my later like, 'This company, BigHit, and the CEO, Mr. Bang, are looking for some young kids who can write lyrics and love rapping.' I told him that I had given up already. I didn't tell my parents, but I secretly met him, and it happened like this.'"

For RM, that moment truly saved his dream and his career. Without Sleepy, his dream of becoming an idol would have ended 15 years ago, and the BTS that ARMY sees today would not exist. Sleepy's decision at that time completely changed RM's life, and what makes it truly precious is that RM never forgot that initial kindness. He even repaid it with a massive sum of money on the rapper's big day.

This action left netizens deeply impressed and full of praise: "He didn't forget the initial kindness," "The 10 million won is surprising, but the fact that he personally asked for the bank account number is even more touching," "As expected, he is very loyal," "Sleepy must have felt so proud," "RM's loyalty and generosity are just on another level," "Sleepy literally changed RM's destiny, and RM repaid him beautifully," and "Not everyone remembers who helped them when they reach the top, but Namjoon never forgot. He's pure gold. Many people change once they get rich and famous, but RM and BTS are exceptional."

On the other hand, Sleepy married his non-celebrity wife, who is eight years his junior, in 2022, and is now the father of two daughters. Meanwhile, RM and the BTS members, who recently completed their military service, are actively preparing for their world tour concert ARIRANG, which will be held at the Busan Asiad Main Stadium on the upcoming 12th and 13th.
