Jungkook Shares How He Handles the Pressure of Being Under Intense Media Scrutiny Every Day

From the moment someone becomes a public figure, every aspect of their life is laid bare before the public eye, with every move subjected to media scrutiny and public opinion. BTS as a group, and Jungkook in particular, are not merely celebrities but global K-pop superstars—truly among the very top tier of idols. As such the level of media attention directed toward them is far more intense and relentless than that experience by most public figures.

For instance, something as minor as the accessories they wear, their Instagram posts, or even changes in their nail color or hairsty can spark a massive changes in speculation. The dating rumor involving Jungkook and another female idol that emerged earlier this month is just one example among thousands over the past decade, clearly illustrating a harsh reality: for Jungkook, a truly private personal life scarcely exists.

Fame is directly proportional to the pressure exerted by the public's "microscope." Jungkook understands his reality all too well, yet he has never chosen to surrender to it. In a world where privacy has become a luxury, he has learned how to carve out a personal space for himself—one quiet enough to allow him to exist simply as a human being. His method is partially revealed in his latest interview with Rolling Stone Japan.

Jungkook has spent most of his life under the watchful gaze of countless cameras, but photography takes on an entirely different meaning for him. Rolling Stone Japan offers a sharp observation: "For someone like Jungkook, who lives constantly under the gaze of cameras, photography becomes a means of looking outward into the world—it is not a stage for performance, but an entryway for observation. To look at the world without being watched in return is, for him, another way of living in the present."

The magazine continued by describing Jungkook as a practical person, writing: "Jungkook says he is a practical person—by hiis own words, a 'realist.' Withn this trait may also lie an instinct for self-protection. After all, when nearly every aspect of one's life is recorded , archived, and analyzed by the media, the only thing he can truly control with his wn hands is the 'present.'"

Defining himself as a realist reveals just how clear-headed Jungkook truly is. Rather than worrying about things beyond his control, he wisely chooses to focus on the one thng he can control: the present. By grounding himself in the here and now, he avoids being swept away by baseless rumors or the invisible preessures created by constant media scrutiny.

What is even more remarkable is that, despite being under such intense observation. Jungkook has never closed his heart to his fans. On the contrary, he chooses to connect with them in the most sincere way possible through the global fan platform Weverse. Although his appearances are irregular, he consistently drops by two or three times a month to share glimpses of his everyday life.

Rolling Stone describes it as follows: "On this platform, Jungkook even reveals some of the most private aspects of his life. The moment he starts a livestream, millions of fans immediately tune in to watch. On screen, Jungkook might be eating, watching a movie, or simply sitting quietly. Sometimes he hums a few lines of a song; other times, he says nothing at all. Among these moments, the legendary scene in which this pop superstar 'fell asleep' during a livestream—witnessed llive by nearly six million viewers—has sincebecome part of fan lore."

Yet, upon closer examination, these moments represent more than simple fan interaction—they reveal the deep trust Jungkook places in those who support him. Moreover, by voluntarily opening up parts of his private invasive scrutiny. When a door is opened willngly, those attempting to look through the cracks lose much of their influence.

As Rolling Stone concludes: "This sense of contradiction—remaining grounded and not losing himself even while under the gaze of million—is precisely the force that sustains Jungkook today. He does not like to overthink things and prefers to follow his instincts. This can be felt even in the way he speaks: his words are carefully chosen yet carry a disarming sincerity; his manner is gentle, and he naturally exudes an approachability that draws people in."

In a world where fame often come at the cost of personal privacy, Jungkok has created a different way of existing—one in which he neither runs from the spotlight nor allowsit to define him. Rather than building walls to shut the world out, he has created a "private space" within the spotlight itself. It is this sincerity and instinct-driven way of living that has sustained him for more than a decade, allowing him to remain grounded even at the center of global attention.

Ultimately, Jungkook's approach to the media is not one of avoidance, but of selective acceptance. He acknowledges scrutiny as part of his profession, yet chooses to take ownership of his present and his sense of self—ensuring that no camera can diminish the purity of his inner world. At this point, fans cannot help but feel both moved and proud as they witness his remarkable growth after more than ten yearys in the industry.
