Jin Admits He's Jealous of Yoongi's "Incredible" Talent
Jin is the oldest member of BTS, but in reality, he's only a few months older than Yoongi. Despite their relatively small age difference, their personalities and behaviors are quite the opposite. While Yoongi tends to be quiet and reserved, Jin is full of energy, playful, and mischievous—almost like the group's maknae.
Yet it s precisely these differences that make them such compatible roommates! In a letter to Jin, Yoongi once expressed his affection and appreciation, writing, "To Jinjinjara/Seokjin!! It's your eternal roommate, Yoongi."
Meanwhile, Jin once made his feelings clear while talking to Yoongi, declaring, "If I had to live with someone, it wouldn't be my brother, my mom, my dad, Jungkook, or any of the other members. I'd choose YOU!"
Not only do they make the perfect lifelong roommates, but they also have qualities that the other can learn from, whether they involve habits or talents. Jin once remarked that Yoongi's ability to enjoy solitude was so impressive that it made him want to try living the same way himself, although he felt it would be difficult for him to maintain such a lifestyle.
Jin was genuinely amazed by the fact that Yoongi could relax and do absolutely nothing, simply sitting in his room all day, even when he wasn't working. It might sound easy, but Jin was so envious of Yoongi's seemingly "tireless endurance" that he once answered immediately when asked in an interview which of Yoongi's traits he envied: "The ability to not get tired from staying completely still and doing nothing. How can he remain so calm like that?"
Yoongi is famous for spending countless hours in the studio creating music and working on new songs. However, according to Jin, what is even more surprising is that Yoongi continues to stay either in the studio or at home even after finishing work, rarely going out. He can even relax simply by sitting in his room without engaging in any other recreational activities.
Yoongi himself once shared an interesting fact about his lifestyle. "When I'm not working, I'm usually lying down at home or inside the studio. I don't like to move or go out. I don't even like meeting people." ARMYs suspect that much of his time in the studio is spent either sleeping or scrolling through his phone while watching cat videos.
For someone as introverted as Yoongi, this habit isn't particularly difficult to understand. However, Jin seems to believe that very few people can manage to "stay home all day doing nothing"—at least, he certainly can't. Jin typically spends his days off going out or hanging out with friends rather than staying indoors.
That said, it's not that Jin is incapable of doing the same. Rather, he is simply "more active" than Yoongi, even when staying in his own space. During a conversation with fans, Jin once revealed that there was a period when he spent more than 10 hours a day playing video games. He even maintained this routine on his days off whenever he had free time.
In a way, Jin also "copied" Yoongi's stillness by refusing to leave his gaming desk, even to eat, and sometimes even skipping showers before going to bed. This difference was that Jin wasn't simply lying still; he was constantly moving his hands while entertaining himself with video games.
Of course, for artsts as busy as Jin and Yoongi, whose schedules as packed with musical activities, performances, recording sessions, and countless other responsibilities, having private time to themseves, becomes all the most precious. These quiet moments not only allow them to rest physically but also help them recharge, regain their emotional balance, and maintain a positive outlook. In turn, this gives them the energy to continue dedicating themselves to their work and their fans.
